SOUTH WALES WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY

It's funny how things happen. Why? well because back in 2011 both Laura and I had cameras bought for us for Xmas presents. We both used to work together back then and it was from that point that I discovered my love for photography. I would have never have thought that 5 years later I would have my own business, Laura would be getting married and I would be her wedding photographer.

Laura and James had a pre wedding shoot a few weeks before the wedding. These shoots are an ideal opportunity to not only get to know your photographer better but to also have your last professional photoshoot as before becoming husband and wife. Check out the shoot here.

Weddings are incredible days, with no two weddings ever the same and this was going to be one of them.

Prior to the wedding Laura and her family went through a very difficult time at home where her mum was diagnosed with cancer. Despite her brave fight, sadly Laura's mum was never given the opportunity to see her daughter step into a wedding dress, a moment that every parent is no doubt proud to see. Having also lost my dad to cancer I knew exactly how she and her family would be feeling.

With her dad Robert by her side and the support of her partner James, Laura set her date and it was clear that she wanted to make that day very special.

The day had finally arrived, 23rd June 2017. Laura was set to marry James at St Martins Church in Caerphilly before later heading up to the New House Hotel.

The morning was very relaxed, well Laura was but James was a bag a nerves, come on James you can admit you were :)

Bridal prep complete, all that was left was to wait for the arrival of the wedding cars. The ceremony was due to start at 12pm, at 11:55am there cars were just pulling into the street. To add to the stress of running late one of the cars crashed into two parked cars in the street, the videographers and the hairdressers car :( not good and not what you need when your are already going to be late for the church.

Matter resolved quickly, I headed off to the church to meet James and also my assistant photographer Les Davies. James and the lads arrived at the church in a very cool old vintage style police car. After being dropped off the police car had headed back to escort the girls to the church. Whilst waiting outside the church the police car arrived but no sign of the two other cars carrying the bridesmaids and bride. Minutes later one car arrives, packed with everyone in there. Thinking what was going on, they explained that Laura's car had broken down just after leaving her house. We can all laugh now but at the time it sure wasn't good. At least Laura made it to the church, much to the relief of James :)

After the ceremony had taken place Laura and James were to head off to Thornhill crematorium to lay flowers for Laura's mum. Laura asked that I came along to capture the moment as she did this and it was a touching moment that certainly put a lump in my throat and also hard to hold back the tears.

We started to leave the crematorium when the police car they were traveling in broke down....credit to Laura and James they did find the funny side of this.

We did get to the New House Hotel and the rest of the day and evening was amazing. Family and friends were all together to celebrate the special day, with plenty of laughs and tears.
